Mosquito Hammocks
Okay, you have heard of cotton hammocks, nylon hammocks, Mayan hammocks, Nicaraguan hammocks, and more, but what is a mosquito hammock? These hammocks are specially constructed for people who love the outdoors but hate the insects that come along with staying outside. Just imagine camping in the great outdoors, under the bright stars, without waking up with mosquito bites all over your body. This is exactly what a mosquito hammock offers. Most mosquito hammocks provide a cocoon that you can climb into and get cozy. While you have plenty of space to sleep and the ultimate experience in comfort, the bugs stay out. Completely enclosing the hammock is a fine mesh netting that is supported by shock cord, which ensures the hammock itself is the only thing touching your body. Think of it as a hammock inside a hammock. The internal hammock is where you will sleep and then wrapped around that hammock is a mesh hammock that does not touch the hammock in which you are sleeping. This provides not only the mesh protection but protection in that the insects cannot get near.

This netting is carefully stitched on one side and then has a zipper opening on the other. This provides easy access in and out of the cocoon. Made from strong and durable nylon exactly like the material used for parachutes, these hammocks are huge. In fact, they are almost as large as a standard queen-size bed. However, for as large and accommodating as the hammock is, it weighs only 16 ounces! Depending on the manufacturer, the colors offered would be different although the standard color is a green, blending in with the outdoors. This mosquito hammock can hold up to 240 pounds and is ideal for camping, hiking, or simply sleeping in your own backyard.

Another great option is the Heavy Duty Jungle Insect-Proof hammock. This hammock is made from a special 1000 denier Cordura nylon. Again, it provides an insect-proof netting and also has a waterproof bottom should you get caught in bad weather. The rain fly is also waterproof, weighs only 2 ounces, and can be attached should it rain. The interior sleeping area is a full 30 inches high, giving you plenty of room to get comfortable. The side features a full length zipper, clews are typically included, the hammock weighs a mere 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and comes in a olive green color.

One other option for sleeping outdoors is the G.I. Style Jungle Hammock. This hammock is also a drab olive green, measures 82 inches long, 26 inches wide, 18 inches high, and is only 3 pounds in weight. With this model of hammock, you do not ever have to worry about mosquitoes or other insects eager to get to you in the middle of the night. The roof of this hammock is fire retardant and made from a poly-coated nylon. Since the floor of the hammock is constructed of cotton, you can be sure you will sleep like a baby! The sides of the hammock are made from mesh netting and steel rings and parachute cord are included for hanging your hammock. The strong zipper opening makes entering and exiting a breeze! If you love to sleep outdoors but hate the bugs, a mosquito hammock is the answer!
